Jack started playing guitar at the age of twelve.  After a brief stint as a singer in his high school band “The New Creation”, he decided to study the guitar seriously and joined his first semi-professional band, “Ovas” in 1974.  Based out of Washington, DC, Ovas quickly became one of Washington’s most popular bands.

In 1976, the band went “full time”.  They won a battle of the bands competition at “Louie’s Rock City”, Washington’s most prestigious Rock and Roll nightclub and soon found themselves opening up for acts like Eddie Money, Rick Derringer and Steppenwolf.  After a near-miss at a record contract, Ovas disbanded in 1979.

Jack spent a brief six month tenure with Don Downing, brother of country music star Big Al Downing before moving to Florence, SC to begin a “normal” life.

Since the move, he has played guitar with various local Pee Dee area acts such as Gene Ray, Silver Eagle, Green River, Blue Knights and the SugarBees.  It was during this time in March 2007, the SugarBees were tapped to be the backup band for The Legendary Singers of The Temptations during their Florence concert.  This was a dream come true for Jack since The Tempts had been one of his favorite bands since the 60’s.  The Bees also backed up the likes of Maurice Williams, Bill Pinckney and other beach music greats.

In June 2007, Nicki Blooze joined the SugarBees as lead singer.  Jack and Nicki shared a common bond with their love of old rhythm and blues.  This friendship would eventually lead to the forming of Nicki and DaBlooze along with Sumter keyboard player Bert Taylor.
